Description
Forced disappearances were a key tactic of various dictatorships of the Americas. The song follows the story of a man and woman, ordinary people who have disappeared, and the fight their family engages in to try and locate them. The final stanza asks where they could be found and answers: in either the field or the water. Water can be a references death flights (vuelos de la muerte) used in Argentina's Dirty War, in which victims were tossed into either the Rio de la Plata or the Atlantic Ocean by aircraft. The song can also be used to teach about movements such as the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo (Mothers of May Plaza) in Argentina, a group of women that came together to lcoate their children and grandchildren.
