Description
Secretary-General Kofi Annan visited Liquica, a town which has been called the "killing field" of East Timor after a wave of murders, rape and destruction by the militia that followed last year's vote for independence. At an emotional wreath-laying ceremony at the site of a massacre at a village church, the Secretary-General was embraced by family members of the victims.
